Coleslaw and Chips, With Burgers - Dinner in Real Time

While hamburgers are always a popular dinner choice at my house, the sides are at least as popular. I love the chips and coleslaw best–the chips crunchy and salty, the coleslaw crisp and juicy–yum! Try these accompaniments with your favorite burgers.

Some of my favorite chips are Trader Joe’s Dark Russet Potato Chips. If you are a fan of the little burned tips on French fries, then these are the chips for you. These chips have a deep, almost caramelized flavor with a very slight bitterness. They are nicely salted and satisfactorily crunchy. Potato chips as a side also have the great attribute of convenience. Just open the bag and they are ready!

This coleslaw is nicely juicy and crunchy, and it has a pleasant warmth from the curry powder.

Curried Coleslaw

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon curry powder

Combine in a medium bowl.

  • 1/2 head cabbage, sliced very thin
  • 1 large carrot, grated

Add to the dressing and stir to thoroughly combine. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
